About the Role

Key responsibilities include measuring distances and verifying dimensions, checking levels, alignment, and elevation, observing work to ensure procedures and materials meet specifications, preparing material samples for laboratory testing, and examining finished installations for quality. The inspector will interpret plans, discuss deviations with contractors, record material quantities, develop pay estimates and change orders, maintain daily logs, monitor various work activities, enforce safety practices, and manage project documents using platforms such as AASHTOWare, e‑Builder, or Transport.

What You Bring

This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with at least ten years of experience to work in a collaborative, customer‑focused environment. The inspector will oversee and inspect construction work, verify compliance with plans and specifications, serve as the daily point of contact for clients and contractors, and manage observations, material testing, and documentation. Candidates must hold at least a high school diploma and have ten or more years of progressive experience inspecting bridge or highway structures on state MODOT, municipal, or multimodal projects. A safety‑first mindset and strong writing, listening, and communication skills are essential. Preferred qualifications include ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler, or similar state MODOT certifications, the ability to collaborate effectively with peers, clients, and contractors, and a desire to lead problem‑solving initiatives.
