About the Role
Under general supervision, the engineer will provide field support on diverse environmental projects such as site assessments, remediation, compliance programs, Phase I assessments, and sampling/monitoring. This includes conducting subsurface investigations—drilling, geologic/geotechnical logging, and media sampling—while maintaining quality‑control standards for accurate measurements. The role also involves performing engineering calculations, cost estimates, data validation, and preparing technical reports that document field procedures, data interpretation, and graphical presentations. The engineer will generate concise electronic documentation, manage field notebooks, and work closely with project managers to meet client expectations regarding schedule, budget, change management, problem solving, and deliverables. • Provide field support for site assessments, remediation, compliance programs, and Phase I investigations. • Conduct subsurface investigations including drilling, logging, and environmental media sampling while maintaining quality‑control standards. • Perform engineering calculations, cost estimates, data validation, and prepare technical reports with clear data visualizations. • Generate accurate electronic documentation and manage field notebooks. • Collaborate with project managers to meet client schedules, budgets, and deliverables. • Apply Microsoft Office, technical writing, and data‑analysis skills to deliver project work. • Follow safety protocols, sample‑collection procedures, and complete required training. • Uphold ethical standards and WSP’s Code of Conduct in all activities.

What You Bring
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong technical writing, and data‑analysis skills are required, as is compliance with safety guidelines, sample‑collection protocols, and site‑specific procedures. The employee must complete assigned training, exercise ethical decision‑making, and may be asked to perform additional duties as business needs dictate. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental, civil, or geological engineering (or a related discipline) and have 0‑1 years of relevant post‑education experience. They should possess strong research and analytical abilities, familiarity with environmental laws and record‑keeping, effective interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work independently or in a team. Basic proficiency in technical writing, office automation, and safety compliance is essential, as is the ability to lift up to 50 lb, travel as required, and pass background, drug, physical, and driver’s‑license checks. Preferred credentials include Engineer‑in‑Training certification, OSHA 40‑Hour HAZWOPER with refresher, DOT hazardous‑materials training, CPR/First Aid, and prior internships in the relevant engineering discipline.
