About the Role

The Project Safety Manager will lead hazard identification, implement preventive measures, and coordinate closely with Upchurch project leadership and the General Contractor’s safety team to keep safety a top priority. They will conduct thorough incident investigations, supervise employee safety compliance, and support company‑wide safety initiatives while aligning project efforts with corporate safety objectives. Regular site inspections, audits, and safety observations will be performed to continuously improve safety performance. • Identify hazards and implement preventive/corrective measures. • Partner with project leadership and GC safety team to prioritize safety. • Lead incident investigations using root cause analysis for injuries, near misses, property damage, and theft. • Supervise employee safety compliance across the project. • Support company-wide safety initiatives and enforce policies. • Coordinate with Director of Corporate Safety to align project safety with organizational goals. • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety observations. • Maintain accurate documentation and generate reports using Microsoft Office. • Deliver safety training and foster a proactive, team‑based safety culture. • Ensure compliance with OSHA and all relevant regulations. • Manage workers’ compensation cases with Third‑Party Administrators from reporting to resolution.

What You Bring

Upchurch is seeking an experienced Project Safety Manager for an active construction project in Clinton, Mississippi. This on‑site role is responsible for fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with project leadership to proactively manage risk. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction safety, incident investigation, and workers’ compensation management, and can work effectively with both field and corporate safety teams, the General Contractor, and the Owner Representative. Candidates must bring 7‑10 years of construction safety management experience and hold an OSHA 500 certification. Experience developing Pre‑Task Plans, Methods of Procedures, and lift plans, as well as proven incident investigation and root‑cause analysis abilities, are essential. Prior supervisory experience, the ability to manage safety programs across multiple locations, relevant safety education or certifications, and strong communication skills are also required. The role requires the ability to work on active construction sites in varying weather conditions, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform safety inspections that may involve climbing ladders and scaffolding.
