About the Role
Working on the bridge team at GFT provides the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. As a Bridge Engineer, you will be immersed in a dynamic mix of bridge engineering assignments across the Northeast region, contributing to the planning, design, and delivery of structures that strengthen regional mobility. From multi‑span highway overpasses and complex river crossings to pedestrian bridges and culvert upgrades, you will apply advanced analysis and geometry work, collaborate with roadway, geotechnical, and traffic teams, and support design‑build and accelerated construction projects that drive multimodal connectivity and community value. • Conduct structural analyses, design, and verification of bridge geometry. • Perform bridge load ratings. • Develop plans for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, utility vaults, noise abatement walls, pedestrian bridges, and sign structures. • Prepare construction contract documents, specifications, cost estimates, and review shop drawings.

What You Bring
The successful candidate must have at least four years of progressive design experience in structural engineering for a variety of bridges and related structures. Under supervision, you will develop plans and perform calculations of varying difficulty, including technical studies, structural design and analysis, load ratings, and quantity estimates. As you grow, you will be encouraged to expand your technical reach, mentor junior engineers, participate in business development, and broaden exposure to large‑scale public agency clients. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structures) and EIT/FE certification. • Possess 4+ years of roadway infrastructure design experience and knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications. • Proficient with CADD software (MicroStation/AutoCAD) and Microsoft Excel/Word. • Demonstrate strong teamwork, organizational, written and verbal communication skills. • Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license and experience with NJDOT or New Jersey Turnpike Authority projects. • Preferred: Experience with Bentley OpenBridge Designer, CSiBridge, and AASHTOWare Bridge Rating. • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment and foster collaborative learning.

Benefits
The position is full‑time, with standard working hours of 8 AM to 5 PM, and a salary range of $90,000 to $125,000 that depends on experience and geographic location.
