About the Role

As a Design Manager you will lead and deliver a variety of project types and sizes through all phases, serving as the main point of contact for clients. You will draw on extensive knowledge of design and delivery processes while mentoring junior staff to ensure the highest level of design quality and client satisfaction. • Develop and nurture positive relationships with existing client contacts to optimize opportunities. • Monitor clients' business objectives, market trends, and identify new service opportunities. • Ensure day‑to‑day project delivery on time and within budget. • Lead and facilitate cross‑functional project teams. • Manage project requirements, deliverables, timelines, and fee visibility throughout the lifecycle. • Prepare and monitor work plans, budgets, and deliverables for internal and client teams. • Prepare and review proposals, contracts, and consultant agreements. • Coordinate documentation with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, civil, and other consultants. • Support new business development with current and potential clients. • Provide concise, accurate information in project reports and staffing meetings. • Review internal accounting documents and draft project billing. • Collaborate with Design Director and marketing to document project stories and arrange photography/videography. • Provide excellent client service and account leadership.

What You Bring

The role is in‑person in Kansas City, Missouri, and we welcome candidates who are willing to relocate. Applicants should submit a current portfolio or work samples in PDF format. • Own problem resolution in collaboration with practice leadership and studio directors. • Possess design management and project management experience. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Interior Design or Architecture. • Have 15+ years of professional experience. • Be a registered Interior Designer or Architect. • Demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. • Know all phases of interior design and architectural projects. • Adapt quickly in fast‑paced environments and proactively address challenges. • Exhibit strong programming and space‑planning abilities. • Maintain high design competence with building code knowledge. • Be proficient in Revit. • Experience managing consultant teams and resolving complex technical and design issues.
