About the Role

• Conduct inspections before, during, and after construction to ensure compliance with safety, structural, and building code regulations. • Issue violation notices, stop‑work orders, and permits for construction. • Document results of inspections. • Effectively communicate findings to homeowners and contractors. • Coordinate with and assist other field inspectors; pick up extra inspections as needed. • Explain and clarify code‑related problems with contractor field personnel. • Communicate and uphold standards consistently. • Conduct building damage assessment inspections. • Provide training and mentoring to current inspectors and assist in selection and training of new staff. • Follow up on phone calls and compliance issues. • Handle customer service issues for walk‑ins needing code clarification. • Serve as a resource for inspectors in the field. • Interpret and apply standards and regulations for Building, Electrical, Elevator, Mechanical, and Plumbing. • Ride along with field inspectors to provide supervision and feedback on job performance and consistency. • Maintain awareness of new developments in inspections and incorporate them appropriately into programs.

What You Bring

• International Code Council (ICC) Certifications (Commercial and Residential) required. • Minimum of 3 years' experience working with jurisdictions as a Building Inspector. • Valid CA Class C Driver's License. • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. • Municipal experience.
