About the Role
Employees will perform a wide range of manual activities, such as moving and retrieving equipment, digging, and standing by for fire safety. They will climb structures and scaffolding, operate rigging and hoisting devices, use fire extinguishers, and conduct preventative maintenance including lubrication and repair of worn parts while following supervisor instructions. • Maintain reliable transportation and be available to work 7 days as needed. • Perform manual tasks including moving equipment, digging, and retrieving tools. • Stand by for fire safety and operate a fire extinguisher. • Climb structures and scaffolding safely. • Operate rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls, and come‑alongs. • Conduct preventative maintenance like lubrication and repair of worn parts. • Follow directions from supervisors and journeymen. • Lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 lb; perform extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, and sitting. • Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and use fall protection on platforms or scaffolding.

Candidates must have experience using industrial hand and power tools. Commitment to Zachry’s values and safety rules is essential. Required competencies include basic knowledge of hand and power tools, strong problem‑solving ability, manual dexterity, reading comprehension, and effective communication. The position values teamwork and adherence to safety protocols. Preferred candidates are former or ROF’ed Zachry employees with basic mechanical knowledge, industrial construction experience, and formal technical education. This position has no direct reports. The job involves extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting up to 50 lb, as well as work at heights and on ladders or scaffolding with appropriate fall protection. Employees must work in all weather conditions while wearing mandatory PPE such as hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, respirator, hi‑vis vest, leather gloves and steel‑toed boots.
