Senior Electrical Engineer HV

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior High Voltage Electrical Engineer to join our Northern New South Wales Energy team, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering complex HV design solutions that support clients to tackle the energy transition. As a senior member of the team, you will provide leadership across technical delivery, project coordination and client engagement for major utility, renewables, and infrastructure programs. You’ll work closely with clients across Transmission & Distribution, Generation, Renewables, Transport and Defence. Working with a dynamic team and an ambitious growth plan, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in utilising your expertise across substations, transmission lines, underground cables and power system on projects up to and including 500kV. You will lead and coordinate design projects with various disciplines including electrical, civil, structural, primary, secondary, SCADA, and Power Systems on renewable energy projects. You will develop and review technical documentation such as design reports, equipment specifications, cable schedules, and interface documents, with the support of our Technical Director Engineers. You will also support business growth by contributing to proposals, developing client relationships and identifying opportunities to deliver value in the energy transition and infrastructure decarbonisation space. • Provide technical leadership, project coordination, and client engagement for major utility, renewables, and infrastructure programs. • Lead and coordinate HV design projects across substations, transmission lines, underground cables, and power systems up to 500kV. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, civil, structural, SCADA, Power Systems) on renewable energy projects. • Develop and review technical documentation including design reports, equipment specifications, cable schedules, and interface documents. • Contribute to business growth by preparing proposals, building client relationships, and identifying value‑adding opportunities in the energy transition.

What You Bring

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of experience delivering complex HV engineering projects within the Australian utilities or consulting sector, with strong capability in HV design and construction in renewable projects. You must demonstrate ability to lead and guide others, providing technical direction, mentoring junior engineers and driving high‑quality outcomes across protection and secondary systems packages. Client‑facing experience is a plus, and proficiency in proposal and report writing, as well as familiarity with testing and commissioning support activities, is expected. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. • 8+ years of experience delivering complex high‑voltage engineering projects in Australian utilities or consulting. • Strong expertise in HV design and construction for renewable projects. • Proven ability to lead, mentor junior engineers, and ensure high‑quality outcomes for protection and secondary systems. • Proficiency in proposal and report writing; familiarity with testing and commissioning support.
