About the Role
Key responsibilities include supervising, training and coaching warehouse staff to meet production and delivery targets, coordinating loading and unloading of shipments, and maintaining accurate inventory through cycle counts and discrepancy reconciliation. The supervisor also enforces OSHA regulations, oversees safe operation of forklifts and cranes, and drives process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Additionally, they maintain documentation using ERP or WMS, and collaborate with production, quality and logistics teams to support smooth operations. • Supervise, train, and coach warehouse and shipping staff to achieve production and delivery goals. • Coordinate timely loading, unloading, and dispatch of shipments for on‑time customer delivery. • Conduct cycle counts, reconcile inventory discrepancies, and maintain accurate stock levels. • Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies to ensure a safe work environment. • Identify and implement process improvements to boost efficiency, reduce errors, and control costs. • Maintain shipment, inventory, and warehouse documentation using ERP/WMS. • Collaborate with production, quality, and logistics teams to support seamless operations. • Oversee safe operation and maintenance of forklifts, cranes, and other material‑handling equipment.

What You Bring
The Shipping Supervisor position is located at Atlas Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries in Birmingham, AL. The role oversees daily warehouse and shipping operations, ensuring efficient material handling, order fulfillment, inventory management, and logistics while maintaining a safe and organized environment. It is designed for a hands‑on leader with strong organizational, leadership, and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting. Candidates must have at least three years of warehouse and shipping experience in a manufacturing or heavy‑industrial environment, preferably in steel or pipe/tube production, and two years of supervisory experience. A solid working knowledge of inventory control, logistics, ERP systems, and OSHA safety standards is required, along with strong problem‑solving and communication skills. Physical abilities include lifting up to 50 pounds and operating material‑handling equipment in a fast‑paced setting. • Require 3+ years of warehouse/shipping experience in manufacturing, with 2+ years in supervisory roles. • Possess strong problem‑solving, verbal and written communication skills, and knowledge of OSHA and inventory systems.
