About the Role
As a Diesel Mechanic, you will work primarily in a repair and maintenance shop at WM’s Seattle, WA hauling site, servicing the fleet that supports over 20 million customers across the United States. Your work keeps critical equipment running and contributes directly to the local community’s reliability. You will use modern tools and procedures to maintain diesel and, at some locations, CNG trucks, applying a high level of skill and determination to ensure exceptional equipment performance. • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on diesel and CNG trucks. • Estimate time and material costs; perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times. • Respond to emergency breakdown service calls and conduct safety inspections. • Complete required paperwork for parts usage and repair times; maintain a clean, OSHA‑compliant work area.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least two years of relevant mechanic experience, a valid driver’s license with a clean record, be at least 18 years old, and be legally authorized to work in the United States. Successful applicants will also pass a pre‑employment drug screen and physical examination. WM looks for team‑players who enjoy both independent and collaborative work, appreciate daily variety, and possess strong problem‑solving abilities. The role requires frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing, and constant standing or walking, and involves exposure to occupational hazards such as cuts, burns, chemicals, noise, and varying weather conditions both indoors and outdoors.
