About the Role

The Plant Manager oversees the Landfill Gas to Energy Facility, aiming to maximize production while maintaining safe work practices, environmental compliance, timely maintenance, and contract adherence. This role serves as the plant owner and must be available as needed to meet facility objectives. By thoroughly evaluating operational data, the manager plans and executes actions to manage production capacity, reduce operating expenses, and limit equipment downtime. Ongoing activities are inspected for safety, environmental compliance, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures. The manager reports recurring shutdowns or equipment de‑rating and recommends corrective actions. The manager ensures compliance with all air‑permit requirements, including task tracking, documentation, emissions testing, and equipment adjustments to meet limits. They represent WMRE during third‑party testing and regulatory inspections. All third‑party vendors for scheduled maintenance, unscheduled downtime, compliance, and well‑field issues are secured, managed, and coordinated, with regular communication to the Market Area Gas Operations Manager and WMRE Operations Manager. The manager also serves as the primary contact for power and gas purchasers, ensuring adherence to power purchase, gas sales, interconnect, and other agreements. Plant machinery and equipment are inspected, repaired, maintained, and serviced according to Standard Operating Procedures, maintenance manuals, and WMRE policies. The manager must handle non‑routine repairs or issues using sound judgment without direct supervision. WM and WMRE safety policies are implemented for all work activities, and the manager ensures these practices are followed by staff, vendors, contractors, and visitors. All mandatory safety and operational training assigned by the supervisor are completed. The manager procures plant supplies and replacement equipment efficiently, manages vendors, and operates within the annual budget. The manager promptly responds to plant shutdown call‑outs during non‑business hours, diagnosing causes and performing repairs or adjustments to restore operation, consulting with operations managers as needed. Backup staff are identified and scheduled to guarantee 24/7/365 coverage, and spare inventory counts are conducted twice annually. Plant tours are scheduled and conducted to support community relations, with the manager acting as WMRE’s on‑site technical expert on renewable energy production. Participation in public forums and community education helps promote the facility as a marketing platform and maintains relationships with key political and community decision‑makers. • Maximize landfill gas to energy production while ensuring safety and environmental compliance. • Evaluate operational data to plan actions, reduce expenses, and minimize equipment downtime. • Ensure air‑permit compliance through task tracking, emissions testing, and equipment adjustments. • Coordinate third‑party vendors for maintenance, compliance, and well‑field issues. • Manage relationships with power and gas purchasers and uphold contract obligations. • Inspect, maintain, and repair plant equipment per SOPs; handle non‑routine issues independently. • Enforce WM and WMRE safety policies for staff, vendors, contractors, and visitors. • Complete mandatory safety and operational training and procure supplies within budget. • Respond to 24/7 plant shutdowns, diagnose causes, and implement repairs without management intervention. • Organize backup call‑out schedules and maintain spare inventory twice yearly. • Conduct plant tours, act as technical expert, and engage in community and public relations.
