About the Role

The SSHO applies JCFS safety programs, US Army Corps of Engineers safety and health requirements, and relevant state and federal laws to inspect equipment and working conditions, aiming to prevent accidents and hazardous events. They lead all safety functions across multiple project levels, develop site‑specific Accident Prevention Plans and Activity Hazard Analyses, and oversee procurement and training of safety supplies for both JCFS employees and subcontractors. The officer also serves as the on‑site competent person, subject‑matter expert for crane lifts, lockout/tagout, fall protection, trenching, scaffolding, and confined spaces, and enforces safety directives while conducting daily inspections, mishap investigations, and deficiency tracking. • Apply JCFS safety programs, USACE safety & health requirements, and state/federal laws to inspect equipment and work conditions. • Lead all safety functions across multiple project levels and locations. • Implement site/task specific safety program, creating Accident Prevention Plans (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA). • Authorize procurement of project safety supplies and equipment; oversee safety training for JCFS employees and subcontractors. • Ensure internal employees and subcontractors understand and comply with all safety requirements; conduct compliance reviews. • Serve as on‑site competent person and SSHO per Army Corps EM 385‑1‑1. • Act as subject‑matter expert for crane lifts, lockout/tagout, fall protection, trenching, scaffolding, and confined spaces. • Enforce safety directives per JCFS Safety Program, site‑specific APPs, and EM 385‑1‑1. • Conduct daily safety and health inspections, mishap investigations, maintain OSHA Form 300, and track deficiencies to resolution. • Provide leadership and facilitate the local Office Safety Committee. • Partner with site leadership and develop relationships with government and subcontractor safety organizations. • Establish initiatives to enhance the JCFS safety program and own safety execution at the assigned location.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a current 30‑hour OSHA Construction Safety certification (or obtain it within the first 30 days), have at least five years of continuous construction safety inspection and administration experience on large‑scale projects, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to obtain required government security clearances are also required. Preferred qualifications include a solid understanding of OSHA, USACE EM‑385‑1‑1, NAVFAC, ANSI, NFPA 70‑E standards, experience in safety program implementation, and competency as a trainer for fall protection, electrical, confined space, or asbestos work. Benefits

The salary range for this role is $95,000 to $115,000, negotiable based on experience. Employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of employment and receive three weeks of paid vacation, five sick days, three floating holidays, and ten standard holidays each year (totaling 6.5 weeks).
