About the Role

The engineer will maintain the port’s electrical infrastructure to industry, statutory, and national/international standards, develop and execute strategies for reliable operation, and supervise consultants, contractors and engineers during construction, maintenance and switching activities. Key duties include managing contracts for third‑party support, overseeing SCADA and BMS systems, implementing metering to track network losses and tenant consumption, and guaranteeing 100 % availability of electrical supply. The position also requires planning cost‑efficient maintenance, updating the Electrical Safe Systems of Works, and handling day‑to‑day switching issues. • Maintain and switch HV network (>11 kV) infrastructure. • Perform HV cable jointing and termination tasks. • Supervise consultants, contractors and engineers on construction and maintenance projects. • Manage contracts for third‑party emergency recovery support. • Oversee SCADA and BMS systems to monitor power consumption. • Implement metering strategy to track network losses and tenant usage. • Ensure 100 % power availability and compliance with Safe Systems of Works. • Plan and execute cost‑effective maintenance schedules aligned with operational needs. • Provide 24/7 electrical support and rapid problem resolution. • Apply proactive problem‑solving and innovative solutions to improve efficiency.

What You Bring

Required qualifications are an HND or degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience), demonstrable experience with HV networks over 11 kV, cable jointing and terminating, and in‑depth knowledge of BS 7671:2018 (18th Edition). Candidates must show proactive problem‑solving, innovation, and the ability to support 24/7 operations.
