About the Role
The Fabric Maintenance Engineer role, based on‑site in Reading, focuses on carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the facility. The position operates within the site’s shift pattern and supports out‑of‑hours call‑outs as needed. • Perform general carpentry tasks. • Maintain and repair fire doors. • Test fire alarm systems weekly. • Flush water taps weekly. • Clean and service air handling units (AHU). • Conduct basic plumbing and drainage repairs. • Patch wall and floor tiling, carpets, lino, and screeds. • Repair suspended ceilings. • Install and maintain shelving/racking. • Change and repair locks. • Paint and decorate as needed. • Follow site shift pattern working hours. • Execute planned and reactive maintenance per PPM schedules. • Carry out preventive maintenance professionally. • Produce technical and situational reports. • Use technology systems to ensure contractual compliance. • Perform work proactively and professionally. • Provide first‑line out‑of‑hours site call‑outs. • Write activity reports accurately and timely. • Assist in preparing quotations with accurate information. • Attend team meetings and briefings. • Submit accurate weekly timesheets. • Perform reactive maintenance directed by Help Desk or management. • Escalate major site issues promptly to line manager. • Manage Integral sub‑contractors on site. • Follow health, safety, environmental, and quality legislation. • Handle, store, and use materials/equipment safely. • Participate in health‑and‑safety processes (investigations, risk assessments, audits). • Follow reasonable instructions from contract manager or line managers. • Cooperate with company to meet moral and legal obligations.
