About the Role
The engineer will lead and support the design of medium‑ and low‑voltage distribution, lightning protection, grounding, and control systems, converting client requirements into code‑compliant solutions and supervising detailed drawings in Revit or AutoCAD. • Lead or assist with electrical design of power distribution infrastructure, medium and low voltage power, lightning protection, and grounding systems for DoD and mission‑critical facility projects. • Develop integrated control sequences and schematics for power distribution equipment. • Develop and edit product specifications for power distribution equipment and electrical components. • Interface directly with client SMEs to coordinate power systems components, controls, and integration. • Create designs from site assessments and concept design through project lifecycle to final design. • Interpret and implement client requirements into code‑compliant designs. • Create and supervise development of electrical plans and details using Revit or AutoCAD. • Perform power systems studies by creating electrical models in SKM or similar software. • Conduct onsite electrical surveys and site visits during construction. • Perform quality control review of electrical engineering design. • Provide guidance to entry‑level engineers. • Prepare and review design and construction cost estimates for electrical scopes of work. • Perform construction administration tasks including shop drawing and RFI reviews.

What You Bring
We are hiring a Senior Electrical Power Systems Engineer – Federal for our Roanoke, VA office. The role requires an active Top‑Secret clearance, a Professional Engineer license, and offers relocation assistance. It is a hybrid position delivering power‑distribution designs for Department of Defense and mission‑critical facilities. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field), have at least eight years of power‑system design experience, be a licensed PE, and possess U.S. citizenship and a valid driver’s license. Preferred qualifications include 15+ years of experience, expertise with spot networks, micro‑grids, telecommunications design, and a strong understanding of DoD standards such as UFC and the NEC. • 15+ years of experience. • Experience with spot networks, micro‑grid systems, lighting design, and electrical commissioning. • Experience developing A/E services proposals. • Experience working in time‑sensitive environments with direct client interface and high‑level accountability. • Effective written and verbal communication skills. • Proficiency with MS Office applications. • Ability to prioritize, multitask, plan, adapt, and self‑initiate tasks in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision. • Telecommunications design experience including network, A/V, and electronic security design in DoD and mission‑critical projects. • Knowledge of and experience with Department of Defense requirements, including Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and the National Electric Code.
