About the Role
The Regional Operations Manager – HVAC leads the technical and operational performance of a skilled trades team focused on HVAC, refrigeration and mechanical building systems. The role ensures safe, compliant and efficient delivery of maintenance, repair and project work across the assigned region while driving operational excellence, service performance and client satisfaction. In the people‑leadership capacity, the manager directs a regional team of mechanical trades, provides hands‑on technical guidance on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and lifecycle planning, and oversees employee engagement, training, development, performance management, hiring, retention and compensation recommendations. The manager also enforces health‑and‑safety standards specific to HVAC work, conducts toolbox talks and ensures compliance with BGIS standards, client requirements, manufacturer specifications and applicable codes. Operational responsibilities include managing HVAC and mechanical budgets for labor, materials, subcontractor costs and work‑order expenditures, and planning resource deployment for service calls, preventive programs, capital projects, seasonal readiness and emergency response. The manager drives performance through proactive maintenance, reduction of callbacks and root‑cause analysis, collaborates on HVAC‑specific processes and preventive‑maintenance programs, and partners with dispatch and CMMS teams to optimise scheduling, response times and resource utilisation. As a subject‑matter expert, the manager supports client discussions on system performance, asset condition and mechanical lifecycle planning, and promotes efficiencies through increased self‑perform HVAC work, optimised labour loading and improved preventive‑maintenance compliance. Delivery of high‑quality HVAC services must align with BGIS operational and safety standards. • Lead and manage a regional team of skilled HVAC and mechanical trades professionals. • Provide hands‑on technical guidance for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and lifecycle planning. • Oversee employee engagement, training, performance management, hiring, retention and compensation recommendations. • Enforce health‑and‑safety standards (lockout/tagout, refrigerant handling, confined spaces, working at heights) and conduct regular safety briefings. • Manage HVAC and mechanical budgets, including labor, materials, subcontractor costs and work‑order expenditures. • Plan and allocate resources to support service calls, preventive programs, capital projects, seasonal readiness and emergency response. • Drive operational performance by implementing proactive maintenance strategies and reducing system callbacks. • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and refine HVAC processes, standards and preventive‑maintenance programs. • Partner with dispatch and CMMS teams to optimise service scheduling, response times and resource utilisation. • Act as HVAC subject‑matter expert for client discussions on system performance, asset condition and lifecycle planning. • Ensure compliance with BGIS standards, client requirements, manufacturer specifications and applicable codes.

What You Bring
The minimum education required is a community‑college diploma or equivalent training such as RPA or CET. Candidates need 5–10 years of progressive HVAC or mechanical‑trades experience, including at least five years in a supervisory or management role. Required knowledge includes strong technical expertise in HVAC systems, refrigeration, chillers, boilers, air‑handling units and building‑automation systems, as well as in‑depth understanding of related codes, regulations and safety requirements. High proficiency with computer systems, especially CMMS platforms, is expected. Trade certifications such as a Journeyman Refrigeration License, Gas Fitter Certification or other HVAC/mechanical credentials are considered assets. • Possess 5–10 years HVAC/mechanical trades experience, at least 5 years in a supervisory role, strong technical expertise in HVAC systems, and proficiency with CMMS platforms; relevant trade certifications are a plus.
