About the Role
The Hand Portable Assembler works under the Fire Protection Products Supervisor, using blueprints to determine proper assembly, filling, and packaging requirements for hand‑portable fire extinguishers. The role involves testing pressure and filling FE 36 shells with the appropriate dry chemical. Employees may be rotated to other departments based on skill set and production needs. Key duties include checking that all parts are available, gluing and positioning components, and inspecting shells for fabrication defects. The assembler operates semi‑automatic dry‑chemical filling machines, pressurizes shells to specified PSI, weighs finished units, attaches seals, labels, and stamps, then palletizes the product. Minor maintenance on gluing apparatus and final inspections before shipment are also performed, along with occasional carton preparation and shell touch‑up. Employees must comply with Environmental, Health, and Safety obligations, including following safety rules, attending training, and reporting accidents immediately. They must know emergency procedures, use lock‑out tags after six months, and complete hazardous‑waste training. Recognizing chemical hazard labels, managing spills, and following satellite accumulation rules are essential responsibilities. • Assemble hand‑portable fire extinguishers by gluing, positioning, and securing components according to blueprints. • Operate semi‑automatic dry‑chemical filling machines, set timers, adjust cycles, and pressurize shells to required PSI. • Inspect shells for defects, weigh filled units, attach visual seals, label, stamp, and palletize finished extinguishers. • Perform minor maintenance on gluing and filling equipment and maintain accurate inspection logs. • Record production counts, complete daily timecards, and report scrap using tickets and discrepancy reports. • Follow all environmental, health, and safety protocols, attend required training, and use lock‑out tags after six months.

What You Bring
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and hold a high‑school diploma or equivalent. They need to retain extensive product knowledge, read nameplates and production orders, operate filling machines, maintain inspection logs, and complete daily timecards. Benefits
