About the Role
This position oversees the administration and management of engineering activities for the Wiring Device‑Kellems product lines, covering research, concept development, design, specification, and documentation for new and revised products while supporting the New Product Development (NPD) process. The role drives key NPD initiatives to ensure timely product launches that meet strategic business objectives, collaborating closely with customers, channel partners, marketing, manufacturing, and both onshore and offshore engineering centers to incorporate requirements and maintain compliance with certification standards. It provides senior management visibility into project status, manages departmental and project budgets, and aligns engineering activities with the organization’s long‑term strategic plan. • Oversee staffing, training, organization, productivity, and overall management of the Wiring Device‑Kellems engineering department. • Manage assigned NPD projects to ensure timely and successful execution according to schedule. • Evaluate and assign work based on priorities and individual skills; conduct annual performance reviews. • Identify and recommend process improvements and training to enhance efficiency. • Apply DFMA principles to designs, define testing requirements, and evaluate results. • Provide detailed hands‑on support and oversight for all engineering NPD activities. • Guide product specification development and review design concepts, layouts, and models for function, safety, cost, and compliance. • Ensure Voice of the Customer is reflected in NPD project scope and requirements. • Develop solutions to design and application problems and ensure quality of design work. • Report project status to management and take corrective actions as needed. • Schedule project and design reviews, securing alignment with cross‑functional stakeholders. • Stay current with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and secure necessary UL and CSA approvals. • Represent the company in codes and standards activities as assigned. • Travel up to 10% of the time to factory locations, industry meetings, and customer engagements. • Monitor new materials, processes, and technologies; recommend improvements for performance and cost.

What You Bring
The candidate is expected to have a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, preferably an MBA or a master’s in management of technology, 10‑15 years of engineering experience in electro‑mechanical product design, at least five years of engineering management experience, and hands‑on CAD design expertise. • Possess hands‑on CAD design experience and knowledge of high‑volume plastic molding, metal stamping, casting, FEA analysis, and root‑cause analysis techniques. • Familiarity with certification standards and processes such as UL, CSA, IEC, and NFPA.
