About the Role

The position is open in Minnesota, Colorado, and Texas. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring design teams, acting as the primary point of contact with owners and trade partners, translating project visions into constructible designs, and overseeing change management, cost estimating, and coordination of multiple design entities. The manager will also develop virtual design and construction (VDC) requirements, procure consultants, and ensure a smooth transition to on‑site project management. • Lead and mentor Design Phase Managers, overseeing performance evaluations. • Serve as primary contact with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners during design. • Translate owner’s vision into constructible designs within scope, budget, and schedule. • Define critical success factors and manage change decisions with stakeholders. • Coordinate design development, incorporating trade partner input and constructability reviews. • Guide estimating team to produce technical, cost, value‑engineering, and lifecycle estimates. • Manage multiple contracted design entities and submit design documents to owners. • Develop VDC requirements, procure consultants, and implement early buyout plans. • Supervise budget recommendations and trade‑partner selections to meet schedule and cost targets. • Facilitate early trade‑partner coordination meetings and preliminary on‑site logistics plans. • Act as interim Project Manager until a permanent manager is assigned. • Provide mentorship, support business development, and contribute to estimating inputs.

The Design Phase Manager will partner with Construction Executives to deliver dedicated design‑phase services to project owners and design teams, emphasizing clear communication and proactive problem‑solving. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Estimating or related field. • Minimum 10 years of experience in complex battery storage or similar projects. • Strong electrical background with detailed understanding of construction and building design. • Proven risk‑management, project‑management, and cost‑control skills. • Excellent communication, cross‑cultural relationship building, and conflict‑resolution abilities. • Proficient with Microsoft Office and relevant project/web applications. • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and promote inclusive practices.

The base salary ranges from $110,700 to $166,100, with higher ranges for certain locations.
