About the Role
The Senior SMP Engineer will play a pivotal role in driving engineering excellence across structural, mechanical and piping design. Based in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth, the role involves leading SMP engineering, design and technical assurance activities, and providing technical guidance to junior engineers. The engineer will also coordinate design activities across multiple disciplines and liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and client representatives. • Lead SMP engineering, design and technical assurance activities. • Review and develop structural layouts, mechanical equipment designs, piping layouts and isometrics. • Ensure all designs comply with project requirements, standards and regulations. • Oversee calculations, specifications, datasheets and key engineering deliverables. • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers. • Lead HAZIDs, HAZOPs and design risk reviews. • Resolve complex engineering issues and support project commissioning. • Coordinate design activities across multiple engineering disciplines. • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and client representatives.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and have at least five years of senior engineering experience in the power, energy or process plant sectors. Experience in design‑for‑construction, multi‑disciplinary projects and proficiency with digital engineering tools such as Autopipe, Microstran, Spacegass or Caesar II are required. Eligibility for Engineers Australia membership and strong stakeholder management skills are also expected. All applicants will undergo relevant screening checks, including a national criminal history check and a pre‑employment medical assessment with drug and alcohol screening. • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. • 5+ years in a senior engineering role within power, energy or process plant sectors. • Experience in design‑for‑construction and multi‑disciplinary project environments. • Exposure to site‑based engineering highly regarded. • Proficiency in digital engineering tools (Autopipe, Microstran, Spacegass, Caesar II etc.). • Eligible for membership with Engineers Australia. • Strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills. • Strong health and safety culture.
