About the Role

The role is a remote Estimating Engineer position based anywhere in the United States, supporting Federal projects with 25‑30% travel. The position reports to the Senior Estimating Engineer, Chief Estimator, or Preconstruction Manager. The Estimating Engineer prepares detailed quantity take‑offs, cost estimates, and constructability analyses, develops value alternatives, and assembles bids for various contract types while coordinating with subcontractors, design teams, and clients. The engineer also reviews site conditions and contract documents, prepares scope requisitions, collaborates with operations staff to address general conditions, evaluates subcontractor proposals, and recommends expenditures to senior leadership. Supervision of assistant estimators and interns is part of the role. • Prepare complete quantity take‑offs, analyses, estimates, and studies for assigned scopes. • Perform constructability analysis to identify design and construction issues. • Conduct value analysis and propose cost‑efficient alternatives. • Liaise with subcontractors, architects, engineers, consultants, and clients. • Develop detailed estimates for assigned trades, building systems, or overall project cost. • Assemble bids and proposals for lump‑sum, GMP, cost‑plus, and other contract types. • Analyze site conditions and contract documents to identify uncovered scope. • Create scope requisitions and coordinate with estimators to eliminate gaps and overlaps. • Work with operations staff to ensure General Conditions and Requirements are addressed. • Obtain and evaluate subcontractor proposals, managing scope risk. • Recommend expenditures to Chief Estimator and client. • Supervise assistant estimating engineers, assistants, and interns.

What You Bring

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and at least two years of related experience, strong written and verbal communication, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to read and interpret contract documents and drawings. Leadership and interpersonal skills are required. Physical demands involve frequent sitting, standing, walking, occasional climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds, with vision requirements for close and distance tasks.
