About the Role
As a WM Intern, you will work alongside experienced professionals on real projects that impact the business, own a meaningful project, and present results to senior leaders at the end of the summer. In addition to core work, you will attend skill‑building workshops, participate in executive roundtables, and connect with fellow interns nationwide, creating a strong professional network. The internship is part of the Quality Engineering crew within WM’s Digital Team, known for its innovative, collaborative spirit and AI‑driven solutions. You will explore new tools such as AI‑driven testing, gain insight into behind‑the‑scenes processes, and contribute ideas that help WM achieve its purpose across the organization. Interns will engage in analytical work, help improve processes, and communicate any obstacles to their supervisors. Responsibilities include problem identification, conducting analyses, synthesizing findings, and delivering actionable recommendations in both written and verbal formats. • Apply problem‑solving skills to identify and analyze issues. • Conduct analyses and deliver written and oral insights with recommendations. • Synthesize findings to support functional projects and process improvements. • Communicate obstacles and roadblocks to supervisors or managers. • Participate in real‑world projects, present a meaningful project to senior leaders, and attend workshops and executive roundtables.

What You Bring
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and be pursuing or have recently completed a relevant bachelor’s degree. Preferred applicants have experience with AI‑related tools and show a willingness to explore how AI can enhance quality engineering, testing, and automation. The role operates primarily in a professional office setting using standard equipment. Interns are required to work onsite at WM’s downtown Houston headquarters Monday through Thursday, with a flexible remote day on Friday, and must reside in Houston or surrounding areas. The position may require a REAL ID or TSA‑approved alternative for travel.
