About the Role
The Heavy Equipment Technician performs repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment, compact heavy equipment, light service equipment, and light trucks. Typical repairs include preventative maintenance inspections, hydraulic, fuel, exhaust, brakes, suspension, electrical, HVAC, and emission systems. • Diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment. • Perform repair and preventative maintenance on electrical, diesel, and gasoline vehicles—including compactors, excavators, and wheel loaders. • Work on engines, transmissions, chassis, drivelines, hydraulic, brake, electrical, suspension, wheels, tires, and undercarriages. • Read and interpret equipment condition reports and repair orders, and communicate findings with supervisors and operators. • Complete paperwork documenting parts usage and reconcile work order times with time cards. • Record daily consumables, fuel, and oil usage for input into fleet management software. • Analyze oil sampling data, onboard computer diagnostics, and fleet management reports. • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including OSHA Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, and fire protection regulations. • Perform overhauls on gasoline and diesel engines. • Apply welding and/or fabrication skills as needed. • Utilize health care and dependent care spending accounts. • Participate in Employee and Family Assistance Program (EAP).

What You Bring
• Hold ASE certification covering air brakes, tires, hydraulics, advanced electrical, drivetrains, suspension, steering, and wheel‑end components. • Possess at least one year of heavy‑equipment technician experience. • Earn a mechanical trade school certificate or degree. • Obtain a certificate in electrical diagnostics. • Maintain working knowledge of Tier 4 emission systems.
