About the Role
In this role you will manage transmission line projects of varying size and complexity, both domestically and potentially abroad, and work hands‑on with design teams to execute project deliverables. Responsibilities include scope and proposal development, team assignment, project execution, quality control, schedule and budget management, and closeout. You will lead projects through their full life cycle, mentor project engineers, EITs, designers, CADD technicians, and administrative staff, and oversee workload, schedule, quality, utilization, morale, and performance. The position also covers non‑engineering aspects such as public and agency engagement, permitting, right‑of‑way acquisition, and construction management, while ensuring QA/QC compliance with HDR’s Quality Management System. Additional duties involve client management, business development, coordinating hiring plans with regional leadership, collaborating across offices, and representing HDR in marketing and proposal efforts. • Lead transmission line engineering projects from concept through closeout. • Develop project scope, proposals, schedules, budgets, and quality plans. • Oversee routing, permitting, right‑of‑way acquisition, and public/agency engagement. • Mentor and supervise project engineers, EITs, designers, CADD technicians, and staff. • Ensure compliance with HDR’s Quality Management System and QA/QC standards. • Maintain client relationships and pursue new business development opportunities. • Coordinate hiring plans with regional leadership and talent acquisition teams. • Collaborate across multiple HDR offices to deliver project outcomes. • Represent HDR in marketing initiatives and proposal development for new work.

What You Bring
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering (or related field), an FE or PE license (or PMP in lieu of PE), and at least two years of project management experience. Required qualifications call for a bachelor's degree, seven years of related experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to the employee‑owned culture. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering (or related field). • Preferably possess FE/PE licensure or PMP certification. • Minimum of 2 years project management experience and 7 years related engineering experience. • Exhibit strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
