Maintenance Technician

About the Role

Technicians will perform scheduled maintenance on the Class 800/801/802 fleet for the Intercity Express Programme, supporting a collaborative and adaptable workplace. The job includes adhering to health and safety standards, supporting team leaders, and accurately recording work in the maintenance management system. • Perform scheduled maintenance on Class 800 series rolling stock according to vehicle instructions. • Service and prepare Class 80x rolling stock. • Conduct depot driving duties following operating procedures. • Participate in continuous improvement of maintenance processes and procedures. • Complete exam tasks promptly and carry out basic fault rectification or repair. • Adhere to all health and safety processes and procedures. • Support Maintenance Team Leaders and Duty Shift Managers to deliver the production plan. • Record work activities and stock consumption in the maintenance management system. • Work rotating shifts to meet service requirements of the IEP fleet. • Maintain experience in maintenance and work a 24/7 shift roster. • Diagnose faults and produce written reports.

What You Bring

Candidates should have maintenance experience, be comfortable with a 24/7 shift roster, and possess strong fault‑finding and reporting abilities. Required qualifications include a mechanical or electrical apprenticeship and an NVQ Level 3 or higher, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team. • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Hold a mechanical/electrical apprenticeship and NVQ Level 3 or higher. • Work effectively both independently and within a team; remain calm under pressure. • Desirable: Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook; read electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics. • Desirable: Train driving capability; work at height, COSHH, manual handling, AC HV isolation up to 25 kV.
