About the Role
The Journeyman Electrician I will install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, conduit, equipment, and fixtures in both underground and above‑ground settings. This role involves performing cable and conduit installations and leading less‑skilled electricians to maintain a safe work environment. • Comply with Zachry and site‑specific safety rules, overseeing co‑workers for compliance. • Follow directions from multi‑craft electricians, foremen, superintendents, and project managers. • Enforce Lock‑Tag‑Try procedures at the refinery and associated facilities. • Inspect work areas for hazards before commencing tasks. • Participate in and complete the Zachry Craft Advancement Program (ZCAP) for electricians. • Perform detailed inspections of hand and power tools to ensure they are safe and functional. • Safely use hand and power tools (e.g., conduit benders, screwdrivers, drills) while supervising others. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and plans to locate circuits and equipment. • Install, cut, bend, and secure conduit per NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) standards. • Pull cables and conductors through designated pathways per NEC requirements. • Fabricate and install cable trays according to NEC guidelines. • Operate testing equipment (clamp meters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, harmonics testers) to validate circuits. • Inspect and test electrical equipment to certify safe operation. • Install and maintain temporary power and distribution systems per NEC. • Ensure proper equipment grounding and bonding throughout facilities. • Terminate wires and cables to outlets, switches, breakers, control panels, and distribution systems. • Observe all applicable state and local building/electrical codes. • Lead Safety Task Assessment (STA) meetings. • Apply math calculations to verify installations per NEC standards. • Organize tasks and manage time effectively. • Make sound decisions and provide customer‑focused service. • Uphold Zachry values, safety rules, and regulations.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Journeyman or Master Electrician license, be NCCER Industrial Electrician certified, or have completed the Zachry Craft Advancement Program (ZCAP). They must be able to read and interpret prints, drawings, schematics, and plans, possess the required hand and power tools, work at heights up to 300 ft, meet physical demands, and have reliable transportation for a 7‑day work schedule. The position requires extensive physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 25 lb, as well as occasional work at heights and in all weather conditions. Personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel‑toe boots must be worn at all times. Required certifications include a Texas Journeyman or Master Electrician license, NCCER Industrial Electrician certification, or attainment of Journeyman level through ZCAP.
