About the Role
• Design protection, control, and communication systems for high‑voltage substations and transmission projects. • Produce engineering design packages (one‑line/three‑line diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, BOMs). • Develop and coordinate relay protection schemes and setting calculations. • Create and review logic diagrams, functional control drawings, and SCADA I/O lists. • Perform reliability, selectivity, and coordination studies. • Collaborate with physical design, telecommunications, and other project teams for integrated designs. • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting. • Ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and QA/QC processes. • Participate in project meetings and site visits to gather data and verify implementation. • Review vendor drawings and specifications for relays, RTUs, and control panels. • Assist in cost estimating, proposal development, and schedule planning for protection and controls projects. • Mentor junior engineers, technicians, and drafters, offering guidance and quality reviews.

What You Bring
We are seeking a talented and motivated Protection and Controls Engineer to join our growing Power Delivery team. In this role you will design, coordinate, and implement protection, control, and communication systems for high‑voltage substations and transmission projects, leading initiatives from conception through commissioning while ensuring designs meet client specifications, industry standards, and reliability requirements. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, has 5+ years of relevant experience, and demonstrates strong knowledge of protective relaying, control systems, and substation automation, with proficiency in design tools and industry standards. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred). • 5+ years experience in protection and controls design for high‑voltage substations or transmission/distribution. • Strong grasp of protective relaying principles, control systems, and substation automation. • Proficient in creating one‑line, three‑line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams. • Skilled in protective relay coordination, SCADA systems, and communication protocols (DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus). • Familiar with IEEE, NESC, NEMA, and ANSI industry standards. • Experience using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar electrical design tools. • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail. • Effective written and verbal communication for multidisciplinary collaboration. • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or eligibility preferred. • Ability to manage multiple projects, delivering quality results on schedule and within budget.
