2nd shift Powder Coat Technician

About the Role

The powder coater identifies, picks, and returns powder boxes according to the schedule, operates the electrostatic powder‑coating spray booth for products of varying sizes and materials, and ensures the coating is applied within the thickness range specified by engineering. Responsibilities also include cleaning the spray gun and booth, reviewing quality of unloaded parts, detecting defects during the drying stage, maintaining precise chemistry balance of the wash cycle, and setting up and taking down materials for spraying. • Identify, pick, and return powder boxes according to schedule • Operate electrostatic spray booth to apply powder coating within specified thickness • Clean spray gun and booth after each use • Perform quality control on unloaded parts and detect drying‑stage defects • Maintain correct chemistry balance in the wash cycle • Set up and take down materials for spraying • Communicate effectively with shop lead, supervisor, and other departments • Read and interpret engineering design drawings

The role requires clear communication with shop leads, supervisors, and other departments, excellent hand‑eye coordination, the ability to multitask, and proficiency in reading engineering drawings. Candidates must work independently, be detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment. A high school diploma or GED plus two or more years of manufacturing paint or powder‑coating experience are required.
