About the Role
• Ensure safe and efficient completion of all assigned work. • Instruct and direct other employees and assist contractors supporting plant activities. • Support the Lead Electrician with inventory management, material and tool needs, electrician training, plant documentation, and resource identification. • Install, remove, maintain, repair, test, and operate plant electrical equipment such as exciters, generators, control and interlock systems, lighting, battery systems, and communication systems. • Install new plant systems and subsystems, including conduit, fiber‑optic cable, phones, computer interfaces, switchgear, and lighting. • Operate and service station loads on 110 Vac to 115 kV‑Vac and 120 Vdc switchgear and bus systems as needed. • Keep all tools in safe and good working order. • Maintain a clean, organized electrical shop. • Keep the immediate work area safe and neat, and leave it clean at the end of each day. • Act as inspector for electrical contractors providing plant support when required. • Maintain familiarity with all plant electrical equipment. • Operate and document the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) in compliance with procedures. • Use the computerized maintenance management system to support work management.

What You Bring
The Plant Electrical Technician provides day‑to‑day operations support and assists the Maintenance Manager at the Cambridge, Massachusetts facility. This full‑time hourly role requires UWUA Local 369 Union membership and reports to the Maintenance Manager, with an hourly rate of $54.95. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED plus two years of trade or technical schooling, a Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician’s License, and at least five years of experience in an industrial or power‑plant electrical environment. Preferred candidates can read and interpret electrical circuit, one‑line, and panel diagrams, possess a strong understanding of power‑plant circuitry and switching procedures, and are highly skilled in operating, installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing auxiliary electrical equipment. Applicants should have basic computer literacy and a good safety record. The role requires a company‑provided physical and drug screening, the ability to stand, climb, lift up to 100 lb, work in confined spaces, and tolerate temperature extremes, noise, steam, and dusty conditions. Personal protective equipment such as hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection must be worn, and a respirator qualification is required.
