About the Role
Based in Bengaluru, the Lead Auxiliary Mechanical Piping Engineer will be responsible for the design and analysis of mechanical auxiliaries, skid packages, and external BOP systems, while coordinating with external OEMs and suppliers. The role also provides on‑site support during manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning to ensure rapid resolution of any non‑conformities. • Review detailed customer specifications and derive requirements for mechanical auxiliary designs per BH best practices. • Design skid packages for compressor and steam turbine systems, including piping, supports, and ergonomics. • Examine engineering drawings and 3D models; perform baseplate structural analysis using FEA tools. • Oversee static and dynamic analyses performed by external suppliers with ANSYS and create baseplate drawings. • Design external BOP skids such as rundown oil tanks and seal gas treatment units in partnership with OEMs. • Generate piping line specifications utilizing the PUMA (BH) tool. • Lead multiple complex projects, presenting status, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership. • Coordinate with external engineering suppliers to produce basic engineering and foundation drawings and manage 3D models. • Support the Manufacturing Cell on the shop floor by addressing non‑conformities during machine assembly. • Assist field service engineers during installation and commissioning at customer sites. • Deliver products collaboratively within cross‑functional teams.

The role is part of the Thermodyn business, which designs, manufactures, tests, and installs centrifugal compressors and medium‑power steam turbines for industrial and energy customers. • Hold a BE/BTech in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. • Possess 6+ years of experience in rotating equipment packaging, auxiliary design, piping/support design, and structural analysis. • Knowledge of ASME B31.1/31.3 piping design and API 614 oil system sizing. • Proficient in NX modules for modeling, drafting, routing, and assembly. • Skilled in 3D modeling/detailing tools (UG NX, AutoCAD) and analysis software (ANSYS, CAESAR). • Ability to interpret engineering documents such as P&IDs, data sheets, and O&M manuals. • Understanding of materials engineering and turbomachinery. • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities; capable of influencing and leading small teams. • Experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred but not mandatory.
