About the Role
KBR’s APS-3 program manages Army prepositioned stocks at the Army Field Support Battalion in Charleston and aboard ship, providing logistics and maintenance for Class II, IIIP, IV, VII, and IX equipment. The contract supports the Army’s power-projection doctrine by ensuring that vehicle and equipment sets stored on marine vessels are ready for rapid deployment. KBR also delivers limited maintenance and supply services aboard ship and supports other Army programs as required. The Automotive Worker (Mech II) performs a range of minor repairs and services on motor vehicles, including decal placement, battery replacement, tire rotation, cleaning, and fluid changes. The role also involves assisting with major overhauls, repairing components such as generators and water pumps, and using both personal and government-furnished tools to maintain tactical and combat automotive equipment. All work is performed in accordance with technical specifications and documented per government regulations. • Perform minor repairs and services on motor vehicles, including decal placement. • Check and replace batteries; rotate, repair, and replace tires. • Wash, polish, and clean vehicle interiors and exteriors. • Drain, flush, and replace engine, transmission, and differential grease and oils. • Inspect, clean, calibrate, and replace spark plugs; replace oil and air filters. • Adjust brakes and replace windshield wipers and other minor parts. • Assist with major overhauls by disassembling, cleaning, and repairing components such as generators and water pumps. • Replace thermostats, points, electrical wiring, and other items. • Use personal and government-furnished tools to conduct preventative maintenance on tactical and combat automotive equipment. • Perform field-level maintenance, including inspection, parts identification, requisition, servicing, and repair per technical specifications. • Maintain maintenance records and documentation in accordance with regulations. • Properly handle, store, account for, and dispose of hazardous materials and waste. • Operate forklifts and dollies to move materiel and assets. • Deploy as notified to support equipment issue or receipt; wear required personal protective equipment. • Follow federal, state, and local regulations for hazardous material handling. • Meet deployment qualifications and maintain deployable status. • Work in both indoor and outdoor, non‑climate‑controlled environments.

What You Bring
Employees work Monday‑Thursday, 6:30 am ‑ 5:00 pm, with overtime or weekend duty required during ship cycles. They must be prepared to deploy on short notice, operate forklifts and dollies, and wear required personal protective equipment such as hearing and eye protection, hard hats, steel‑toed boots, and body armor when necessary. Candidates must be U.S. citizens with a valid passport, obtain a Common Access Card, and have at least four years of relevant automotive maintenance experience. Required credentials include a vocational certificate or equivalent training, a valid state driver’s license, personal tools meeting the tool list, and the ability to read technical schematics. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lb, and working in indoor and outdoor, non‑climate‑controlled environments. • U.S. citizen with a valid passport and ability to obtain a Common Access Card. • Minimum four years of related automotive maintenance experience. • Certificate from vocational school or recognized automotive maintenance training (or equivalent combination of education/training). • Valid state driver’s license and personal tools meeting the required tool list. • Ability to interpret technical instructions, schematics, and diagrams. • Stand 2–3 hours per day and walk 4–5 hours per day. • Lift 35–50 lb periodically; squat, kneel, bend, reach, and climb as needed.
