About the Role

The role involves on‑site representation, project documentation, inspections, quality control/quality assurance, plan review, and research of records. The Engineer II will maintain electronic files, clean up records for job close‑out, and support facility and infrastructure sustainment, restoration, and modernization projects. Leadership is expected in planning and managing small to mid‑size projects or leading sub‑groups on larger projects, while building positive relationships with peers, superiors, and subordinates. Additional duties include engaging in training and professional development, participating in marketing activities, and involvement with professional associations and company initiatives. The Engineer II will work closely with the Project Manager on small to mid‑size projects, analyze and optimize internal and external processes, and perform other tasks as assigned. Assignments are typically received from Senior Engineers, Construction Managers, or Project Managers, and the Engineer II must be able to work independently while seeking periodic guidance. The role includes public and client interfacing and may involve supervising technical or support staff on specific project assignments. • Lead and manage small to mid‑size projects or sub‑groups on larger projects. • Perform on‑site representation, inspections, QA/QC, plan review, and documentation. • Maintain electronic project files and ensure proper record close‑out. • Engage in training, professional development, marketing activities, and industry associations. • Produce reports, coordinate with clients, and manage projects from conception to completion.

What You Bring

MBP is hiring Team Members in Arlington, Virginia, requiring at least three years of combined education and/or experience. Candidates should have significant construction work experience with increasing responsibility, preferably in sectors such as federal, state, municipal, K‑12 schools, water/wastewater, higher education, healthcare, data centers, laboratory facilities, transportation, ports, or marina projects. K‑12 experience is especially valued. A Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required, along with EIT or CMIT certification; PE certification is preferred. Candidates should be working toward additional certifications such as CCM, CCE, or PSP and possess knowledge of engineering principles, construction management, scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, and building codes. OSHA 10‑hour or 30‑hour certification is mandatory or must be obtained within three months of hire. Key skills include report writing, client coordination, and managing assignments from conception to completion. Proficiency with Microsoft Office HVAC, CADD, and BIM platforms (Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk 360) is required, as well as the ability to work within budgets, meet deadlines, and identify problems to recommend solutions. The candidate should be skilled in at least one of the following: critical path scheduling, cost estimating, budgeting, financial analysis, delay analysis, constructibility review, inspections, automated control systems, quantity take‑offs, or project close‑outs, and must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and strong communication abilities.
