About the Role
KBR is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the horizontal integration of multiple USAF open‑architecture programs and autonomy projects. The engineer will drive development, simulation, maturation, and coordination of open‑architecture capabilities to ensure system alignment and enhance mission effectiveness. • Prototype and assess feasibility of horizontal integration across open reference architectures and multiple projects. • Coordinate experiments, ensure complementary lines of effort, and deliver leadership‑level briefings on experiment results. • Break down broad cross‑cutting activities into prototype‑based work to reduce risk and uncover opportunities. • Engage with Government clients to gather integration requirements and needs. • Analyze business and management challenges, recommend design modifications, or develop new designs to maximize data efficiency. • Conduct hardware, software, man‑machine interface, and system‑level requirement analyses to deliver integrated IT solutions.

Required skills include software architecture, data modeling, test‑driven development, mission planning, and collaborative software development, along with an active Secret clearance and eligibility for Top Secret. Desired qualifications are an active Top Secret clearance, familiarity with modern development tools, and knowledge of DoD open architectures such as OMS. • Bachelor’s degree in systems, computer, aerospace engineering or related STEM field. • 1–3 years of systems engineering experience. • Experience with software architecture, development, data modeling, test‑driven development, and mission planning. • Collaborative software development experience in open‑source or professional team environments. • Active Secret clearance with Top Secret eligibility; active Top Secret clearance is desired. • Familiarity with modern development tools, languages, methodologies, and DoD open architectures such as OMS.
