Job Highlights
About the Role
The Estimator role supports earthwork, paving, underground utilities and structural projects on transit-era civil infrastructure and highway assignments. Responsibilities include preparing detailed take‑offs, soliciting quotes, developing cost estimates and closing out bids while collaborating on large pursuit teams and design‑build or CM‑at‑Risk delivery methods. The position may support a single large project or multiple smaller ones and provides administrative support to the estimating department. • Prepare detailed quantity take‑offs and solicit vendor quotes using construction software (Agtek, On‑Screen Take‑Off, HCSS). • Attend pre‑bid meetings and conduct site walks to gather project data. • Develop basic cost estimates and self‑perform estimates for subcontracted work. • Draft scope and proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects. • Assist with field engineering tasks such as submittals, RFIs, and support field operations. • Utilize spreadsheets, bid management tools and online plan rooms for estimating activities. • Occasionally stoop, kneel, bend and lift/push/pull objects as required. • Comply with all safety standards and procedures. • Interact regularly with people and technology throughout the workday. • Sit, stand, or walk for short distances for the duration of a shift. • Participate in an employee stock ownership plan and 401(k) with company contributions. • Utilize education assistance, employee‑owner perks and the Sundt Foundation charitable program.

What You Bring
• Hold a four‑year engineering degree or equivalent technical training/experience. • Demonstrate proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite. • Estimator I: 1‑3 years of experience; Estimator II: 2‑5 years of experience. • Preferred LEED accreditation or willingness to obtain it. • Frequent use of hands for grasping, lifting, handling, and feeling objects. • Frequent use of telephone, computer, email and electronic devices for communication.
