About the Role
Lead the People & Culture (P&C) function for Ventia's growing Transport Infrastructure business in New Zealand, driving leadership development, promoting best practice, and championing enterprise initiatives across the large ANZ operation. Reporting to the P&C General Manager for Transport ANZ, you will work closely with the operational General Manager, National Operations Manager and Project Directors/Branch Managers, and sit on the Transport NZ senior leadership team alongside finance, SHEQ, business development, bids and commercial managers. The role balances HR expertise with Ventia's commercial goals, implementing policy while understanding its impact, and supports enterprise‑wide initiatives, focusing on talent, succession planning, development plans, internal mobility, and traineeship/apprenticeship programmes. • Lead and shape the P&C function for the Transport Infrastructure business. • Drive leadership development and promote HR best practices. • Champion enterprise‑wide initiatives within the Transport division. • Develop and execute robust succession planning and talent development strategies. • Support internal mobility, traineeships and apprenticeship programmes. • Advise and coach senior leaders and business managers on strategic P&C matters. • Implement the people strategy across the Transport team. • Represent HR/P&C on the senior leadership team. • Apply HR best practice in an operational, commercially focused environment. • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders. • Lead change management initiatives as needed. • Ensure compliance with NZ employment law and navigate unionised settings. • Balance staff needs with organisational and commercial objectives.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate is an experienced HR Business Partner or Senior People & Culture Advisor with proven ability to partner with senior leaders, coach managers, and deliver strategic P&C operations. You will act as a leader, doer, strategist, investigator, presenter, mentor, or advisor as needed, with experience in planning, capability and leadership development. While infrastructure experience is advantageous, comparable experience in construction, industrial or other complex, geographically dispersed environments is also valued.
