About the Role
• Support project team in aligning scope, budget, schedule, and integrated team experience for construction readiness and financial performance. • Establish and manage project budgets, scope expectations, and budget trending logs with associated communications. • Create and maintain project schedules, track key milestones, and hold team members accountable. • Assist with regulatory approvals, permitting processes, and LEED requirement analysis. • Identify and escalate technical design and specification concerns to achieve resolution. • Provide recommendations for programming, conceptual design, constructability, and logistics solutions. • Coordinate BIM/VDC modeling integration with the construction team during design. • Develop project proposals, prepare bid packages, and compile contract manuals for subcontractors and suppliers. • Manage document and electronic interface processing and ensure extraordinary customer relations. • Gather design‑phase feedback, clarify requirements, and identify future project opportunities.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking experienced Design Phase Engineers (levels I and II) to translate owner expectations into design drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost documentation. Strong communication and coordination skills are required to work with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment. Success in the role depends on flexibility, inventiveness, dedication, efficiency, and high integrity and confidentiality. The company affirms equal employment opportunity and requires all applicants to be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or related field. • Minimum 2 years experience for Engineer I or 4 years for Engineer II. • Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem‑solving, and leadership abilities. • Detail‑oriented with capacity to manage multiple project tasks. • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices. • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project, and relevant web applications. • Positive attitude, strong customer service, and ability to interpret Mortenson policies. • Adaptable, effective communicator with active listening skills; able to work with diverse backgrounds. • Knowledge of EEO, affirmative action, and inclusive behaviors; consistent inclusion of diverse team members. • Ability to travel up to 100%. • Higher ranges for Denver, Chicago (+5%), Seattle and Portland (+10%), Washington, D.C. (+12.5%).
