Construction Materials Internship (Level 1)
Assist with field testing and documentation of construction materials on job sites.

About the Role
In this role, you will observe and document field activities related to construction, sample, test, and inspect various materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel. You will perform calculations, reduce test data, draft reports, operate field screening equipment, and record readings. Additionally, you will read maps, follow directions, interpret engineering and construction plans, and communicate daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers, eventually serving as the sole ECS representative on project sites. • Observe and document field construction activities. • Sample, test, and inspect soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel. • Perform calculations, data reduction, and draft reports on test results. • Operate field screening equipment and record readings. • Read maps, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans. • Communicate daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers. • Serve as the sole ECS representative on project sites. • Provide suitable transportation for job site access (mileage reimbursed).

What You Bring
We are looking for candidates actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, with a strong interest in how building materials are used in construction. The position requires the ability to carry 40–70 lb repeatedly, occasionally lift up to 85 lb to waist height, and provide reliable transportation to job sites (mileage reimbursed). Relocation assistance is not offered. • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline. • Ability to carry 40–70 lb repeatedly and occasionally lift 85 lb to waist height.
