About the Role

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Advisor will define and implement actions that improve safety, operating efficiency and productivity within the local business. The position may be based at any project site across the United Kingdom. The Advisor will lead the application of HSE policies on‑site, conduct regular inspections, manage documentation, coordinate pollution control and waste management, and ensure that HSE matters are discussed in project reviews. They will also investigate accidents, drive incident‑prevention initiatives and provide training to staff and subcontractors. • Promote safe working practices and enforce company HSE policies on site. • Conduct regular HSE inspections and report findings. • Maintain and issue required HSE and environmental documentation in line with company policy. • Coordinate pollution control, waste management, recycling and environmental health activities. • Ensure HSE issues are raised and reviewed in project meetings. • Keep clear records to meet internal and external audit standards. • Lead investigations of accidents and incidents, report outcomes and ensure corrective actions are completed. • Ensure COSHH compliance and manage hazardous substance documentation. • Assist site managers and subcontractors with risk assessments and evaluation documentation. • Deliver HSE training to staff and subcontractors as agreed with the Project Manager. • Propose and communicate incident‑prevention initiatives to the Project and HSE & Sustainability Managers. • Support the Project Manager in incident investigations. • Stay current with health, safety and environmental legislation. • Communicate HSE values through toolbox talks, presentations and other channels. • Act as a role model for safe behaviour and liaise with regulatory authorities such as HSA and EPA. • Apply knowledge of legal requirements, particularly PSCS duties, in daily operations.

What You Bring

Candidates should have proven experience in health, safety and environmental management within an engineering environment of similar scale, with working knowledge of PSCS duties. Required qualifications include a NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or higher) and IOSH membership, while familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, environmental permitting and COSHH compliance is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, ShareFile and Teams, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills, is also expected.
