About the Role
The Airfield Services Leading Hand will be responsible for the safe and efficient management of aerodrome and air terminal operations on designated Defence estates, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting Defence capability. • Oversee delivery of aerodrome management, air terminal operations, and ground handling services in line with contract requirements and KPIs • Ensure safe and efficient execution of all aerodrome‑related deliverables under the contract • Monitor performance of internal staff and subcontractors through audit and compliance programs • Support planning and scheduling of aerodrome activities to optimise resource utilisation and minimise disruption • Maintain aerodrome movement areas, markings, markers, wind indicators, and perimeter fences to Defence standards • Coordinate with Defence stakeholders on operational requirements and service delivery priorities • Develop high‑quality technical reports, scopes of work, and management plans for operational delivery • Ensure compliance with aerodrome safety regulations, legislative obligations, and Defence policies • Review and support development of technical procedures and management plans aligned with WHS, aviation safety, and Defence standards

What You Bring
Successful candidates will have at least four years of experience in aerodrome or ground handling operations, relevant certifications, and the ability to obtain Defence security clearances. They must be Australian citizens willing to maintain the required clearances and undergo any necessary training. • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in aerodrome operations, air terminal management, or ground handling services • Prior experience supervising teams and coordinating aerodrome activities in compliance with aviation safety standards • Certificate II in Aerodrome Operations or relevant competency units • Relevant certifications such as Aerodrome Operations Specialist (AOS) or Airport Management Professional Accreditation Programme (AMPAP) • Willingness to undertake additional training and professional development as required • Dangerous Goods Handling accreditation per IATA and Defence requirements (advantageous) • Eligibility for airside access and security clearances required by Defence and aviation regulations • Must be an Australian citizen, able to obtain Defence Security Clearance and undergo AFP check
