Benefits
The Driver Trainee position at Republic Services is designed to train individuals to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and subsequently assume full driver responsibilities. Trainees will complete a comprehensive training program that includes classroom study, on‑route training, and hands‑on driving experience, and will be provided with the resources needed to take the state CDL examination. Upon successful completion and issuance of a CDL, the employee will be placed into an open driver role across one of the company’s business lines, such as Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll‑Off. During the training period, the trainee is paid and may receive a loaned truck for practice. The internal training process mirrors the external CDL driving school pathway, ensuring that all trainees receive consistent instruction, support, and evaluation before advancing to a full driver position. Candidates must hold a current CDL or a CDL permit and have no prohibitions that would prevent obtaining a commercial driver’s license. The role offers rewarding compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, as detailed below. The company has been recognized by Barron’s, CDP, Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, Ethisphere, Fortune, Great Place to Work, and S&P Global.
