About the Role
In this role you will lead the UK MOD Enterprise accounts, establishing business strategies, objectives, and financial outcomes while fostering effective relationships with internal stakeholders, global defence partners, and MOD senior officials. You will shape regional defence growth plans, manage the sales pipeline, lead capture teams, and collaborate with marketing to position AECOM for major pursuits. This includes rigorous Go/No‑Go decision making and ensuring alignment with AECOM’s global capabilities. • Lead UK MOD Enterprise accounts and set business strategy and financial targets. • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, global defence partners, and UK MOD senior officials. • Develop and execute regional defence growth and business development plans. • Manage sales pipeline, capture management, and Go/No‑Go decision process for major pursuits. • Coordinate multidisciplinary capture teams and collaborate with marketing on strategic campaigns. • Deliver $5M‑$20M consulting contract wins and navigate UK MOD frameworks (CCS/MCF). • Travel regularly to London and other UK offices.

What You Bring
The Business Development – Account Director role is a senior Defence leadership position focused on expanding AECOM’s presence with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). Reporting to the Head of Defence UK, Europe & India, the role requires an active UK Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one, and involves regular travel to London and other UK offices. The ideal candidate possesses extensive senior‑level experience in infrastructure advisory or professional services within the defence sector, a strong network across UK MOD and OEMs, and a proven record of securing $5 million‑$20 million contracts. Strategic thinking, strong business acumen, and high emotional intelligence are essential. • Hold or obtain active UK Security Clearance (SC) and potential Developed Vetting. • Minimum 10+ years senior‑level experience in infrastructure advisory or professional services selling to defence. • Strong network within UK MOD, OEMs, and security sector; proven client engagement and value‑proposition development.
