About the Role

The position involves creating detailed AutoCAD packages for substations up to 500 kV and distribution systems up to 34.5 kV, including single‑line diagrams, layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams. The designer will also standardize CAD processes, maintain a database of tools and equipment, use Automated Design software for material and modeling calculations, and conduct quality control checks while providing feedback to the team. • Produce and quality‑check substation designs up to 500 kV and distribution designs up to 34.5 kV in AutoCAD. • Create single‑line diagrams, layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay panel elevations. • Standardize CAD design processes and maintain databases of blocks, tools, and major equipment. • Utilize Automated Design (AUD) for material lists, voltage‑drop, and pull‑tension modeling. • Perform quality control reviews, provide feedback, and optionally supervise or train CAD staff.

The role focuses on designing and quality‑checking complex substation and distribution plans. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in substation CAD design, be proficient with AutoCAD and Bluebeam, and possess a solid understanding of electrical systems and high‑voltage substation equipment. A high school diploma is required, with an associate degree in drafting or design technology preferred, along with strong organizational skills and experience building CAD symbol libraries. • Require 3+ years of substation CAD experience and proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam. • Possess general electrical substation knowledge and familiarity with high‑voltage equipment. • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects. • Experience creating CAD symbol libraries; familiar with MicroStation, Civil3D, Revit, PLS‑CADD, and PLS‑POLE.
