About the Role

We are looking for a Principal Planner to manage our growing workload of planning policy projects. The role will involve leading and assisting key initiatives, working with multi‑disciplinary teams and engaging directly with clients and stakeholders to achieve successful planning outcomes. The position is based in our London Aldgate Tower office, operates on a hybrid model and can be full‑time or part‑time to suit individual circumstances. • Lead and assist on key planning policy projects, including local authority policy development, evidence studies, strategic growth studies, and infrastructure strategies. • Provide strategic planning advice to clients and internal teams and represent AECOM at conferences and networking events. • Coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered on budget and within programme timelines. • Oversee quality assurance, health and safety compliance, and deliverables from the planning policy team. • Contribute to business development by nurturing client relationships and preparing commercial tenders. • Participate in the operation and leadership of the town planning team. • Maintain existing client and local authority relationships and a business‑development mindset. • Produce high‑quality technical reports and communicate findings effectively.

What You Bring

• Demonstrate significant experience delivering planning policy and strategy in consultancy or public sector roles. • Hold a degree in Town Planning (or related discipline) and membership of RTPI (or equivalent professional body).
