About the Role
The landfill laborer performs a variety of tasks to contain loose refuse, prevent scattering, and help direct traffic on the site. Duties include manual collection, equipment operation, and site maintenance activities. • Manually collect windblown paper along the landfill perimeter and deposit it in large trash bags. • Operate a mobile vacuum mounted on a tractor to suction loose paper and debris from fences and the ground. • Direct truck traffic at the landfill entrance during high‑volume periods using verbal or hand signals. • Lift and transport construction materials such as lumber and concrete mix; use hand tools like shovels, picks, axes, and chainsaws for site maintenance. • Separate metal, white goods, lumber, and cardboard on the tipping floor. • Maintain required licenses per local, state, federal, environmental, and health/safety regulations. • Meet the physical demands of lifting, walking, and operating equipment safely in a landfill environment.

The role requires physical stamina to lift construction materials, walk long distances, and operate tractors and hand tools safely.
