Construction Materials Internship (Level 1)
Internship observing/testing construction materials on job sites.

About the Role
In this role you will observe and document field activities related to construction, sample and test various materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel, and perform calculations and data reduction with accompanying drafting. You will operate field screening equipment, read maps, follow directions, interpret engineering and construction plans, and communicate daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers, eventually becoming the sole ECS representative on project sites. • Observe and document field construction activities. • Sample, test, and inspect soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel. • Perform calculations, reduce test data, and draft reports. • Use field screening equipment and record readings. • Read maps, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans. • Communicate daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers. • Serve as the sole ECS representative on project sites. • Provide reliable transportation for site travel (mileage reimbursed).

What You Bring
The ideal candidate is actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field and has a strong interest in how building materials are used in construction. Physical requirements include repeatedly carrying 40–70 lb and occasionally lifting up to 85 lb to waist height. Reliable transportation for site travel is required, with mileage reimbursed; note that relocation assistance is not provided. • Pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. • Carry 40–70 lb repeatedly and occasionally lift up to 85 lb to waist height.
