About the Role
The Electrical Switchgear Tester plays a critical role in the final functional and quality verification of large switchgear products. Working collaboratively, the tester reviews schematics and wiring diagrams to assess connections, circuits, relays, and transformers. Testing may involve programming displays according to customer specifications, and all testers become certified electrical workers capable of troubleshooting complex circuits. Responsibilities include conducting functional and operational tests, using meters and specialized equipment, and ensuring safety compliance. • Conduct functional and operational tests to verify that switchgear wiring and assembly match project drawings. • Reference schematics and wiring diagrams to identify and resolve testing errors. • Utilize meters and other electrical testing tools to confirm correct outputs and compliance with safety standards. • Program displays when required by customer specifications. • Perform routine quality inspections during assembly and maintain detailed quality records. • Use computer software and hardware to execute test procedures. • Travel to customer sites for troubleshooting and repair less than 10% of the time. • Work occasional evening or weekend shifts as needed.

What You Bring
Candidates should possess an Associate’s Degree in electrical or electromechanical technology, or at least two years of hands‑on testing experience with a high school diploma or Electronics associate degree. Experience with live electricity, transformers, relays, motor controls, and the ability to interpret wiring diagrams is essential. • Must have experience working with live electricity, transformers, relays, and motor controls. • Required education: Associate’s Degree in electrical/electromechanical technology or ≥2 years of relevant testing experience with a high school diploma/GED or Electronics associate degree. • Preferred: three years of electrical equipment testing experience.
