About the Role
The M/E Engineer 2 will execute routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities. The role involves collecting and assembling data, assisting with estimate development, and generating systems and bid analyses, all in alignment with JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. In the core responsibilities, the engineer will learn and actively participate in safety and quality programs, perform entry‑level construction tasks, develop budgetary M/E estimates using automated tools, review design options, create scopes of work, and assist with bid analysis and sequencing. The engineer also gains experience in constructability reviews, job inspections, shop‑drawing/submittal processes, and commissioning activities. Additional duties include generating and executing commissioning plans, independently interfacing with project teams, presenting work products to clients, reviewing subcontractor shop drawings, leading M/E coordination, managing schedules, performing site inspections, and contributing to job pursuit presentations. The engineer also provides budgetary estimates, conducts systems analysis, and participates in constructability and commissioning processes for assigned projects. • Perform entry‑level mechanical and electrical field construction tasks while adhering to safety and quality standards. • Assist in developing budgetary M/E estimates and bid analyses using automated estimating tools. • Support review of mechanical/electrical design options, develop scopes of work, and contribute to constructability reviews. • Coordinate shop drawing/submittal processes and participate in commissioning activities, including functional testing. • Lead mechanical/electrical coordination, schedule development, site inspections, and reporting throughout project phases. • Communicate work products to clients, represent JE Dunn professionally, and contribute to subcontractor selection. • Utilize MS Office and JE Dunn M/E software to read plans, drawings, and specifications accurately.

What You Bring
Key competencies include accurate and timely work performance, intermediate verbal and written communication, proficiency in MS Office and JE Dunn’s M/E software, and the ability to read plans, drawings, and specifications. The role also requires knowledge of construction management methods and strong relationship‑building skills within internal and external teams. A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, architectural engineering, or a related field is required, with equivalent experience considered. Candidates must have at least two years of construction or engineering experience. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, architectural engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). • Possess at least 2 years of construction or engineering experience.
