About the Role
The role involves various landfill tasks, including containing loose refuse to prevent scattering and directing traffic when required. Key duties include manually picking up windblown paper along the landfill perimeter, operating a tractor‑mounted mobile vacuum to clean debris, directing truck traffic during peak summer periods, lifting construction materials and using hand tools such as shovels, picks, axes, and chainsaws, and separating metals, white goods, lumber, and cardboard on the tipping floor. • Contain loose refuse and prevent scattering at the landfill. • Manually collect windblown paper and other debris along landfill borders. • Operate a tractor‑mounted mobile vacuum to clean paper and trash. • Direct truck traffic at the landfill entrance during peak periods. • Lift and transport construction materials and use hand tools such as shovels, picks, axes, and chainsaws. • Maintain required licenses per local, state, federal, environmental, and safety regulations. • Perform physically demanding tasks with accommodations available as needed.
