About the Role
In this position the engineer will provide structural engineering expertise for bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects, performing analysis, supporting field inspections, and collaborating with multidisciplinary design teams and transportation authorities. • Perform bridge load rating analysis and prepare detailed reports. • Support bridge inspection field work and generate inspection documentation. • Provide AutoCAD drafting and develop CAD drawings for project deliverables. • Assist in preparing technical design, evaluation reports, quantity estimates, and specifications. • Coordinate with other design disciplines and infrastructure authorities on federally, state, regional, and locally funded transportation projects. • Complete assigned training and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering, has 1–3 years of relevant experience, and possesses a solid understanding of bridge design, structural analysis, and applicable design codes and regional standards. Strong analytical, communication, and self‑leadership abilities, along with proficiency in technical writing and engineering software, are essential. • Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering (or related discipline). • 1–3 years of post‑graduation engineering experience. • Knowledge of structural engineering principles, bridge rehabilitation and new design, and relevant design codes. • Familiarity with MassDOT, MBTA, and/or RIDOT requirements and standards. • Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD, AASHTOWare, MDX, LEAP, CSi Bridge, STAAD, or similar structural analysis tools. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team. • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification (preferred). • Master’s degree in structural engineering (preferred). • Membership or active participation in local professional practice organizations (preferred).
