About the Role
The position will oversee cost planning, procurement, and day‑to‑day cost management while supporting strategic outcomes and KPIs. It also involves client‑facing advisory, team leadership, feasibility studies, ROM budgeting, value‑management techniques, post‑contract cost control, reporting, final account negotiation, and benchmarking of real cost data. • Lead cost planning and present cost plans to clients and internal stakeholders. • Oversee full procurement cycle from pre‑qualification to contract preparation. • Deliver cost management services aligned with strategic KPIs. • Provide senior client‑facing advice on strategy, tactics, and technical issues. • Build and grow cost‑management teams or accounts. • Coordinate with clients and consultants throughout project stages. • Conduct feasibility studies and generate procurement reports. • Produce rough order of magnitude (ROM) budgets for new and pipeline projects. • Manage day‑to‑day cost activities including procurement, payment requests, change control and reporting. • Apply value‑management techniques early in the project lifecycle. • Control post‑contract cost variances, change orders, and valuations. • Produce and present monthly post‑contract cost reports to clients. • Perform value engineering and life‑cycle costing analyses. • Negotiate and finalize final account agreements. • Update benchmarking data with real cost information from new projects.

What You Bring
Mace North America is recruiting a Senior Cost Consultant for life‑science and industrial manufacturing projects. The role involves direct client interaction on iconic capital projects and requires a minimum of three on‑site days per week, working on active construction sites with heavy equipment and machinery. Essential physical functions include lifting and carrying at least 25 lb, walking and standing extensively—often more than five miles a day—and climbing and walking on scaffolding, with reasonable accommodations considered where needed. Candidates should hold a degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying or a related discipline (MS/MBA preferred) and possess professional membership such as MRICS/RICS, progressing toward fellowship. They must have excellent communication skills, knowledge of value engineering, life‑cycle costing, and construction contracts, plus at least ten years of cost‑management experience, preferably in the pharma or life‑science sector and with large, complex projects. Proficiency with Oracle Unifier or similar systems is required. • Hold a degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying or related field (MS/MBA preferred). • Possess MRICS/RICS (or equivalent) membership, progressing toward fellowship. • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills. • Knowledge of value engineering, life‑cycle costing, contract law and construction contracts. • Experience managing senior stakeholder relationships. • Minimum 10 years of cost‑management experience in construction. • Background in pharma, life‑science or similar manufacturing sectors. • Proven track record leading large, complex construction cost programmes. • Proficient with Oracle Unifier or comparable project‑management systems.
